Primary Classroom Teacher

About the Role

Horizon International School Jinja is seeking two passionate and professional Classroom Teachers to join our Primary / Elementary team. This role plays a central, high-impact part in students’ academic, social, and emotional development. You will set the tone for learning, discipline, and engagement, modeling international best practices every day.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
• Teach core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, and integrated thematic units.
• Use differentiated instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Assess, record, and report student progress using formative and summative strategies.

Classroom & Student Management

• Establish a safe, structured, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Monitor student behavior, wellbeing, appearance, and social interactions.
• Organize and supervise classroom leadership roles.

Pastoral & Community

• Act as the primary point of contact for parents of assigned students.
• Lead Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) and Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs).
• Support students’ social, emotional, and moral development.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Required).
• Certification: Recognized Teaching License / Certification.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of full-time classroom teaching.
• Skills: Experience with Cambridge Curriculum, strong classroom management, and cultural adaptability.
