[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Horizon Spelling Bee is an annual episode carried out at Horizon International School Uganda that calls on participation of numerous schools within the Eastern and Central regions of Uganda. It appears in two different categories which include the junior spellers aged 10-13 and the senior spellers aged 14-18. The competitions always take place at Horizon campus Jinja every month of June. Horizon initiated this olympiad in a bid to promote literacy amongst young people, to improve vocabulary, build esteem and confidence. In working together with Enjuba and Ministry of Education, Horizon has reached out to numerous schools in the regions mentioned above and has supported them with ready and professionally prepared materials that promote proper spelling and use of vocabulary. The success of Horizon’s participation in Spelling Bee in Uganda has been evident a number of times including a student from Horizon putting Uganda in second place in the African Spelling Bee 2019.
Horizon continues to promote literacy through spelling bee and in the end deliberates to literally empower the young people throughout Uganda and beyond.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
